CAREER Program

College of Nursing & Health Sciences

Thank you for your interest in CAREER, a HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity grant funded program (grant number 1D19HP19035) designed to help pre nursing and nursing students reach their academic goals by utilizing a holistic approach to wellness and addressing the social, spiritual, emotional and physical aspects of wellbeing.

Students selected for CAREER will receive many benefits, including an individualized success plan, paid membership in the Student Nurses Association (SNA), mentoring, a health and wellness program, tutoring, and a connection to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.  Some students may also receive a monthly stipend or scholarship.

The program requires a commitment to participate in CAREER activities, attend monthly SNA meetings, and exercise two and a half (2.5) hours per week. If you are interested in applying to CAREER, we will have applications available online soon. Pre nursing students only need to fill out the online application. Students currently in the nursing program (including the summer 2011 cohort) will also need to submit a letter of recommendation from a nursing clinical or lecture professor in addition to filling out the application.

Also, students who want to be considered for the monthly stipend must have a completed FAFSA on file with the TAMUCC Financial Assistance office for the 2011-2012 academic year.
If you would like more information about CAREER, please contact me at or at 361-825-3989.
